Prince William Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in Brazil
The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil during November, as announced by royal officials.
The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a event preceding the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were in attendance at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.
Environmental Advocacy Dedication
The King has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil before the climate conference.
Official representatives have described Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as assuming an important role in "global climate discussions".
Previous Activities
The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were welcomed guests including conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.
This engagement included speaking together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.
Environmental Prize Connection
The UN meeting will align with the the royal's sustainability recognition program, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he attends the COP summit on the sixth of November.
Last week the prince characterized the prize competitors as "modern-day pioneers".
Royal Climate Legacy
King Charles has been a influential participant at past COP meetings, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats challenging our world over planetary heating, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the sovereign addressed delegates.
