Football Recap: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Defensive Battle
In a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to secure the ugly win.
Dominant Display Seals Game
Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after giving up a safety in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards during the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's short kick with just over five minutes remaining.
Record Difficulties for Jets Offense
In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to score a possible winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 when head coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it rather than sending out kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
The Jets quarterback struggled throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York finished with negative ten net yards passing, the lowest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach stated following the game.
